Dennis Erickson
Dennis Erickson grew up in Madison, Wisconsin and built a career dedicated to service, leadership, and community. From working with the U.S. Department of Agriculture to a 20-year career with the Boy Scouts of America, Dennis has always believed in giving back.
Later in life, while working at Eastview Health and Rehabilitation Center, Dennis adopted Rocket — a decision that changed both of their lives. His passion for animals, storytelling, and human connection inspired this book.
Dennis’s writing reflects real moments, real people, and real compassion — making Rocket’s story authentic and deeply relatable.

Brian Ponshock
Brian Ponshock is a self-taught artist with a background in Architectural and Residential Design. He is the creator of several syndicated and original comic strips and brings warmth, humor, and personality to every illustration.
Brian’s illustrations perfectly capture Rocket’s playful energy, emotional moments, and superhero spirit — making the story visually engaging for young readers and adults alike. He has one dog, Molly — a high energy Schnauzer companion.
